Newsletter: Sensazione Autumn 2010

Dear

The Institute is pleased to announce the launch of a new and refined Da Vinci newsletter. Open and transparent communication is a key driver within our company and we are always looking for ways to open up channels to engage our clients – including both students and sponsors. The newsletter intends to bring you up to date information on developments within The Institute, and to serve as a portal by means of which people will be able to link with similar minded people. Discussions will revolve primarily around the Management of Technology, Innovation, People and Systems and how these aspects may inform management development and organisational performance challenges facing the country, and the continent at large.

Sensazione is The Da Vinci Institute's newsletter--the name comes from one of the 7 Da Vincian principles as described Gelb's book: "How to think like Da Vinci" in and means "to sharpen one's awareness"

Prof Ben Andersen (CEO The Da Vinci Institute)

The Da Vincian principle of Curiosita refers to an insatiably curious approach to life and an unrelenting quest for continuous learning.

‘Curiosita’ is a monthly forum for contemporary thinking on the Management of Technology, Innovation, People and Systems, hosted by The Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management. It is a community of enquirers including PhD students, faculty and any other interested individuals who assemble to present and discuss their work, and to provide mutual support in the quest for continuous learning.
Our existing CURIOSITA format has been running for four years, and has seen increasing participation and debate. BUT, as is our missive, "we cannot tread water" and decided that 2010 should introduce a new approach with enhanced participation for greater experiential learning rather than just "death by powerpoint" - to capture Aristotle's notion of Dialectic rather than that of Rhetoric. Curiosita will take the format of a workshop in which students will raise about five issues in relation to their PhD. The dates for Curiosita 2010 are 29 June; 27 July; 31 August; 28 September; 26 October; 30 November (TBC). Da Vinci House 6 Antwerp Rd Moderfontein Johannesburg
